Our third full week of second grade is in the books! Here are some of the things we learned in room A7 this week:
On Monday your child should bring home your parent-teacher conference invitation. Please look for those. If your time doesn't work for you, let me know ASAP. Finally, due to the confusion many parents are experiencing with the home-school folder, I put the directions in the "Class Policies/Information" page on this website. Refer to it as often as needed. As always, thank you for sharing your children with me! We've just ended our second full week together and what a week it's been! I hope your child is enjoying their time in second grade. They certainly are working hard while they're here. Here is a list of just a few things students learned this week:
Coming up next week, students should have their conference time request sheets turned in to school by Tuesday. Fund raiser money and orders are due on Thursday. Also, please take some time during the week to go over your child's spelling words with them. We will write them on our planner page each Monday. I'd like to see scores improving over time as much as possible. That's all for now. As always, keep in touch with any questions or concerns. I love spending my days with your kids! Our first full week as a second grade family has come and gone. Students seem to be settling in to the new routines and expectations. I have informed students that, starting next week, I will be raising my expectations when it comes to following the rules of our classroom and school. This is such a nice group of youngsters that I'm sure they will rise to the occasion!
As always, parents, don't hesitate to contact me with questions or concerns at any time. Here are some of the learning goals we worked on LAST week. Feel free to do some reinforcing at home (wink, wink):
After spending half of the week together as a class, may I say how much I am enjoying getting to know the personalities of our classroom!!! Room A7 is truly an enjoyable place for me to spend my days and I hope your child feels the same.
There has been some confusion as far as the home-school folder, what's homework, and what isn't so I am hoping to clear a few things up with this blog entry. Today we did some rearranging of folders and papers so that things make more sense for the kids and for you. From now on, anything that comes home in the yellow folder pocket marked "Return to school" needs to be completed by your child at home and returned the next day. This should RARELY happen (as I disdain homework), but is a possibility. The only exception to this rule will be the students' planner page. That page is filled out daily at school only and returned the next day to be filled out again. It MAY stay at home on Friday's once the entire week has been filled out. I hope that makes sense. Also, please note that we are a PEANUT FREE CLASSROOM. All classroom snacks must be peanut/tree nut free. Peanut/tree nut products are fine for lunch. As always, please contact me with questions or concerns. I am LOVING your kids!!!! We were busy, busy today learning procedures, rules, and......of course.......recess. Students are bringing home a planner page. Some may not have been able to fill it out completely. That's OK. They can finish tomorrow. Please be sure they bring those back to school tomorrow. Let me know if you have questions or concerns!!!
