A large part of this past week was focused on social studies concepts, specifically Michigan history. It was a nice change of pace from the usual routine and (I hope) insightful for the students.
Our week coming up will continue to deviate slightly from the norm. A large focus of next week's learning will be scientific, specifically on the concept of objects in motion. We'll even get to spend some time in our beautiful new collaboration studio performing experiments. As you get your child ready for Monday, remember it's Halloween. Please send your child to school with their costume (no make-up, fake weapons, gore, etc.) The Jeffers Jive will take the place of our class party and happens from 1:40-2:30. Your child can put on their costume prior to the Jive. Thank you for all the donations. I know it seems like schools are always asking for money. If paying the $12.50 for field trips is a burden, please contact me. Enjoy your weekend. Go Green!!! Some talking points from this past week:

What a treat it was to meet with you all these past two days and share our plans for shaping your third grader into the best student they can be. Thank you for taking the time to meet with me!
Today we had the opportunity to become official, certified PALS to our friends with food allergies. Your child also learned of a terrific program called The Teal Pumpkin Project. I would encourage you to consider participating. Some talking points from room A210 this week:
We are trying something new this year by scheduling our fall parent-teacher conferences digitally. Almost all of my students are currently scheduled to be represented by at least one parent at next week's conferences. If you have not yet been able to schedule your child's conference, please do so soon. And let me know if you have questions.
Our second math unit comes to a close next week, as well as our first reading unit. Assessments will follow. If you would like to help prepare your child, quiz them on some multiplication facts. Students should know the 0s, 1s, 2s, 5s ,9s and 10s multiples. The quicker memorization happens, the easier your child's math life will be. And yours too, of course ;-) Thank you for supporting our Jeffers Jive with your pledges. And of course, thanks most of all for supporting your child's learning! Some talking points from our week include:
I can really tell the students and I are settled into our new school year routine. They are learning what I expect of them and I am learning what they need from me. The result is a learning environment that becomes more enjoyable and productive each day. It is my hope you are feeling the same way about third grade.
Here are some talking points from our week:
Hopefully you all received my google form regarding classroom volunteers. If you didn't please let me know. I will make sure you're added to our schedule. I will send out more information regarding class parties later. Halloween is all set thanks to JPO and the Jeffers Jive. Please mark the following dates on your calendars:
