Our time this week was indeed memorable. Students were given opportunities to summarize non fiction texts about famous African American women. After a few tries, their summaries were awesome! One lesson we discussed from this experience was that it is important to try your best even if no one is forcing you to try your best.
In math, we are adding and subtracting with 3 digit numbers using several different methods (expanded method, place value drawings, and regrouping/ungrouping). The final method is the traditional way you and I grew up doing. Clicking the links will redirect you to tutorials on the other methods. We also traveled to see our first grade buddies this week to show them how to play Prodigy. Now that a new safety filter has been added to all student iPads, I would like for those to start coming home on a daily basis. There will occasionally be homework on the devices (check planners) and every night they are to be charged for school the next day. I know there are a few students that do not have WiFi at home. If doing HW on the device is ever an issue, please just shoot me an email. Finally, look for a letter to come home today regarding an upcoming field trip. Some important dates to keep in mind:
