Yesterday I spent the day with my oldest daughter on a field trip with her 4th grade class. It was such a joy to peak into her school life; to watch how she interacts with her peers, notice her behavior and respect for authority, and get a glimpse into the child she is while we are separated. And it occurred to me that I'm a bit jealous that her teachers get to know this side of her maybe better than I do.
As I sit here, typing my final update of the school year to you, I am looking up and seeing your children reading. Genuinely reading. No one is misbehaving. No one is fidgeting. No one is whispering. They are surrounded by their peers and they are enjoying books. And I am aware that teachers are let into children's worlds in a special, unique way that parents might not get to see. I want each of you to know that I realize what an honor it is to be entrusted with your most precious child each day. We as parents are so fortunate in this tiny, special community of ours to be able to provide our child with many positive role models. More than anything else, it is my hope to have been one of those positive role models for your child. Thank you for a terrific year. Upcoming dates:
