My apologies. It has been far too long since my last update to this blog.
After a short, re-introductory week back to school following our holiday break (due to 2 snow days), last week was definitely back to reality. Here is just a short list of some of last week's reading goals: *I can make "I WONDER" statements about a book based on its title, author, and cover *I can make "I WONDER" statements before, during, and after reading a book *When reading out loud, I can change my voice to match the text *I can determine the difference between 2D and 3D shapes *I can classify 2D shapes according to triangle, quadrilateral, square, rectangle, pentagon, and hexagon *I can measure items using centimeters and inches *I can understand how local Native Americans met their baqsic needs prior to the arrival of Europeans Also, your kiddos continue to exhibit exceptional behavior both in and out of the classroom. Thus they have earned their third class reward of the year. On Monday they will be allowed to bring board games to school and will get a half hour of relaxed play time. Congratulations kids!!! Second Grade Art Room News: We are so excited to welcome Ms. Lundman, our student art teacher from Kendall College. She will be with us until April. In art class, we are continuing to you landforms as inspiration for our artwork. We made clay models of landforms that we help us learn more about the effects of pesticides, fertilizers, erosion and precipitation on waterways in STEM class. In art class, we will study the Green Art movement and learn how art can be used to advocate for a cause. We will use our findings from STEM to create sculptures from recycled materials. These sculptures will contain messages about how we can help protect the environment and keep our waterways healthy.
