We started out a fun week in third grade by walking to the high school. It was a gorgeous day! And we got to here the HS marching band perform The Huddle. It was outstanding! I hope your student told you all about it. Monday excitement continued as we got to write letters to our third grade pen pals at Holmes Elementary across town. Looking forward to hearing back from them.
Students spent a lot of time building math fact fluency, especially on the 6s, 7s, and 8s. Those seem to be the toughest ones for most kids to remember. Keep using those apps and flashcards to practice each day at home. Also, Mrs. Cotterall (reading specialist/coach) taught us how much more fun reading can be when you have a partner to share the experience with. We will be doing much more work with our partners next week. Our personal narrative stories are coming along nicely. We practiced telling our stories in sequential order this week. We also learned that it is an author's job to SHOW, NOT TELL a story by creating a movie in our readers' minds and doing that takes a lot of detail. Next week will bring even more learning and fun.......plus a music concert put on by our very own 3rd and 4th graders......on Thursday night. Hope to see you all then!
