The third week of third grade has flown by and these kiddos and pretty well acclimated to the way things work as an UPPER elementary student. Last week we began switching classes with Mr. Talmadge twice a week for science lessons. Kids know exactly where to go for their specials in the morning and LOVE that they are intermixed with other homerooms at that time. Class pictures were taken last week. Yep. They've got this third grade thing down!
One big, BIG lesson we are working on is selecting "just-right" books. Current research suggests that time spent reading books at an appropriate level is the most effective way to make kids love reading. For that reason, I will be sending kids home with Baggie Books starting this coming Tuesday. Together, your child and I have selected what we feel are appropriate books for them. Click here for a letter that contains further explanation and contact me with any questions. Finally, you should all know that Christmas arrived early in our classroom yesterday. In case you haven't heard, we got our iPads!!!!!! What a way to end the week! Students will most likely be bringing theirs home on Tuesday or Wednesday of this week.........quite honestly because they will need to be charged. Please keep in mind this is a new (but exciting) endeavor for all of us. As you have questions, please ask them. Chances are someone else is asking the same thing. Just a quick reminder that our library day is Friday. Thank you!!!
